Miss Pinup Ireland, I was delighted to shoot Sue Kelly a curvy model last saturday as part of her prize for entering Miss Pinup Ireland.  This is a new event which took place at the Dublin Tattoo show this year and Sue will be going on to the finals in London representing us “Oirish’ !

I asked her how she came to be a plus size model and how she ended up on this path:

About 2 years ago Sue was a gym bunny working out hard and managed to drop to a size 6 from a 14  as she was unhappy with her larger figure.  Through an accident at work she hurt her back and began to put back on the weight .  As the weight had crept on she  began to suffer with depression and was really unhappy with her body..

Thankfully, thorugh family and friends she got help and at a size 16 a friend of hers convinced her to go to a casting agency and got signed!
From that she eventually got signed with PS Model management.  She got used to hearing negative comments about her weight or size but somehow got confidence to enter miss pin up Ireland. In this competition everyone had to show a talent and do a q&a.  Sue actually managed to paint a Marilyn Monroe upside down !!  Now aged 32 , Sue realises that it doesn’t matter what weight you are. Her body confidence has returned with all the positive feedback she has received.

Her advice is to ignore the  negative people as the only people that matter are the positive people and the ones you love 😊.

Amen to that ! I loved every minute shooting with her and the fact that she embraced her curves. Here are a few snaps from the day. Thanks to Theresa Danaher / Makeup Flair for the makeup – she’s my wing girl!

Also thanks to Headlines Salon in Headford for letting us shoot a few fun images with the retro dryers!
